MYTime is committed to supporting young carers from across the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area and the rest of the UK. We provide young carers with an opportunity to take a break from their caring responsibilities and take some time for themselves at our outdoor activity centre in Worth Matravers. We are also committed to working with local schools to help them provide support to young carers as outside their families young carers spend the most time with their teachers.
There are currently 166,000 registered young carers between age 5-17 in the UK however research conducted by Nottingham University estimates that there could be as many as 800,000. A young carer is a child under the age of 18 who provides care for another person in their family. This can include providing practical and emotional support to a family member who needs help because of their age, physical disability, mental illness, disability or drug and alcohol abuse problem.
Young carers are an extraordinary group of young people who often have no idea how valuable the support they give their families is. At MYTime we recognise their kindness, hard work and the love they share with others. Our mission is to support them in every way we can to ensure they can go on to live happy and successful lives.
