Children North East is the north east’s very own children’s charity.
Founded in 1891 as The Poor Children’s Holiday Association we are the oldest independent children’s charity in the region. Originally we sent poor children from Newcastle & Gateshead on river boat trips to the fresh clean air at the seaside to cure their ‘ails’. Today we work with children, young people and their parents who are living in poverty or whose lives are disadvantaged because of family misfortune. We believe it is just not fair that some children do not get the same breaks and chances and our projects around the region offer support in so many ways. Your support will make a real difference to the life of a local child – thank you.
